• Our Mission
The mission of the Literacy Coalition
of South Alabama is to advocate,
    coordinate, promote and support
    literacy for all.
  • Make every day Literacy Day!
Promote the value and benefits of a more
    literate population in your community
every day and advocate for increased
investment in adult and family literacy
programs in your area to improve literacy.
  • Adult literacy is important
    • So adults can read to their children
    and discuss school topics.
    • They can be employed full time and
    receive a higher income.
    • They can use the Internet and email.
    • They can vote, volunteer and access
    information about current and
    national events.
  • Children's Literacy
More than any other single skill, the
    ability to read—and read well—allows a
child to succeed in school, learn about
the world, function in society, and
    someday have decent job options.
